Yesterday, the cast of
America’s Got Talent
kicked off season 11 in Pasadena, California, and host Nick Cannon returned with his signature eclectic style. This time, he wore a mauve three-piece suit, glitter tie-up loafters, a pink scarf, and a fedora. But if that’s not suave enough, he had one more move to pull: A pair of glasses—which, he confessed, actually have no working lenses in them.
“I have 20/20 vision, but this is the style, and it went with my theme,” Cannon said. “I do appreciate a nice pair of glasses to add to the ensemble.” It’s a look he likes to wear often, including for Essence’s Black Women in Hollywood luncheon and the All Def Movie Awards last week.
Yet, they aren’t going on camera. “I probably won’t wear these [on the show],” he said. “But when you’re taking pictures on the red carpet, it helps with the glasses because you don’t look like you’re looking all over the place.”

So, what can we expect for the NBC show this season when it debuts this summer, other than a frame-free Cannon? “I don’t even know what they have in store for me on that stage, but I know it’s going to be fun,” he said. “Hopefully I come out alive. They’ll put me through some stuff that will be like, ‘Man really? I gotta do this? In my suit?’ But it’s all about the artists. I’m here to support them so whatever they need me to do, I’m there.”
