Have you bought anything you loved lately? In the PEOPLE StyleWatch offices, the answer to that question is usually “Yes.” This week, we’ve got great shoes on the brain — and Penny Chic’s Shauna Miller shows off her fab $25 find.

Shauna Miller, Penny Chic author: Double layered dresses are my latest obsession! The top and bottom may look like separates, but in fact, it’s one piece. I bought this for $25 at Forever21 to style on my blog, Penny Chic, but ended up keeping it for myself when I noticed the quality and fit. The shape has a structure to it and the texture feels more lux than what I normally find at fast fashion chains. The best thing about these double layered dresses, though, is the slimming effect! The break at the waist shows off your shape in the most subtle way possible, without hugging your curves or needing a skin tight fabric. Translation? I can wear this dress to work meetings, in addition to my friend’s wedding this summer. For me, that’s a major plus!
Catherine Kast, Writer/Reporter: I’m on board with the ugly sandal trend, but my obsession was taken to the next level when I spotted a Hollywood stylist [let’s leave her anonymous] perusing the outdoor Brooklyn flea market two weeks ago wearing white Birkenstocks. After downing an ice cream sandwich from a nearby booth and repeating “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery” in my head to convince me it was okay, I hopped on Zappos.com and ordered the same ones. Despite what my mom used to tell me — that Birks made my feet look like “slabs of meat” — I’m convinced that their width and bulkiness makes my ankles and calves look slimmer. I’m really pleased with the edge they bring to spring outfits, from boyfriend jeans to frocks with a Peter Pan collar. And believe it or not, they are super comfortable and the white sole has yet to get dirty. Listen, if you’re going to go ugly, be bold. Steer clear of the dark neutrals and get these in bright white or a metallic!

Bronwyn Barnes, Senior Style Editor: My one and only trip to the legendary Barneys Warehouse Sale — a twice-yearly fashion scavenger hunt that makes The Hunger Games look like a tea party –- left me traumatized, so I was thrilled when the retailer launched its online Warehouse in 2013. My latest score is a pair of two-tone calf hair and leather Lanvin ballet flats with bow-detailed ankle straps. Original price: $790, Barneys Warehouse price: $319. That’s a 60% discount. For Lanvin flats. (Sorry, I got the last pair.) Why wake up at the crack of dawn to risk being trampled by rabid shoppers when you can look for designer steals from the comfort and safety of your own home 24 hours a day, 365 days a year?
Jackie Fields, Writer/Reporter: A week or so ago the weather in N.Y.C went from “officially winter” to “why do you have so much clothing on!” And I needed to act fast. Luckily my spring/summer 2013 wardrobe is recyclable. My shoes, not so much. Complicating things was that I desperately need a pedi, and couldn’t find an hour in my cray cray sked to sit and sip citrus tea in Jin Soon (it’s my sacred space). So, I resort to plan B. In this case, B is for Barneys (but you knew that, didn’t you?).
Operation “find a spring flat” went into effect in the wee hours one morning, and less than 10 minutes later I had scored these gorgeous Rochas shoes — on sale. On sale, people! Snag a pair, stat. I don’t know what season they are, and I don’t care. What matters is I know how to pronounce Rochas with conviction, and this soft gold tone is killer with my spray tan. These will be my go-tos until at least Memorial Day, and I already can’t wait until September rings in fall fashion week and I can break them out again.
