SPLURGE: REBECCA TAYLOR MINI
Andrea Lavinthal, Style & Beauty Director: There are several reasons why I shouldn’t buy this skirt. For starters, it’s leather, which is great for spring, but might feel sweltering come summer. Secondly, it’s off-white and, unlike Olivia Pope, I’m not someone who can drink dark-colored beverages while wearing light-colored clothing. But I’m willing to give up red wine and Diet Coke for this item, because sometimes great fashion requires great sacrifice.

STEAL: ZARA JACKET
Andrea: I don’t usually consider spending over 100 dollars on one a item a “steal,” but this jacket is so great that I would’ve paid twice as much for it. In addition to being the perfect shade of yellow (somewhere between lemon and marigold), it has cool details like an unfinished hem and edgy zippers. Plus, the length and silhouette pair well everything from jeans to dresses.

SPLURGE: LOVESHACKFANCY DRESS
Zoë Ruderman, Deputy Style & Beauty Director: I’ve had my eye on these silk dresses ever since the brand launched last summer, and I’m finally treating myself. The halter combines everything I love in a warm-weather look: plunging, backless, flowy, tie-dye and yes: very, very sexy. I plan on wearing it to my friend’s wedding in June and just about every other occasion where going sans bra is appropriate (so, uh, everywhere but work, right?).

STEAL: CYNTHIA ROWLEY SEQUIN SHORTS
Zoë: The last time I wore shorts outside the gym was in middle school and they were flat-front khakis from Gap Kids. I would consider this gold pair (way discounted and found at my favorite store for bargain hunting) a very stylish upgrade, especially since I’ll be wearing them with heels and a tissue tee – not pink jellies and a polo like my 7th grade self did.

SPLURGE: LOEFFLER RANDALL BAG
Alex Apatoff, Style News Editor: Every time I see a celeb carrying this “Rider” bag, I think: “You will be mine someday.” And now that it exists in this irresistible mint hue, that day has come. The color is as refreshing as sorbet, while pale enough to land in neutral territory (I’d wear it with anything but red). Plus, the classic and surprisingly roomy shape means I’ll actually get use out of it. Apologies to my other bags: You aren’t getting any airtime this spring.

STEAL: AMERICAN EAGLE MAXI
Alex: I resisted maxi dresses for years. Then I bought one to be appropriately covered on my honeymoon in Thailand, and it was like a lightbulb went off. They’re so freakin’ easy to wear: comfortable, cute and flattering. The embroidery and print on this pretty racerback style make it feel more expensive than it is – I can’t wait to pair it with a jean jacket and flat sandals every other Sunday until September.

SPLURGE: MARCHESA VOYAGE DRESS
Bronwyn Barnes, Senior Style Editor: I became a fan of the exposed zipper when I realized it’s the easiest way to take an outfit from day to night. Wear it fully-fastened in the office, then unzip the embellishments at the front and back to create sexy slits before heading out for after-hours fun. Plus, I love that the black-and-white marble pattern is an edgy twist on the nautical theme.

STEAL: JOE FRESH CAMO TEE
Bronwyn: A cotton T-shirt that blends pale shades of pink and orange into an edgy print for only $16? Sold! (At that price, I’ll also take the one in baby blues and another in light greens.) Joe Fresh tee, meet my favorite skinny jeans. You two are going to be spending a lot of time together this spring.

SPLURGE: SEE BY CHLOé HEELS
Jackie Fields, Writer-Reporter: I’m always running from one event to the next, so flats are my BFF. But I’m branching out and giving my shoe collection a little, um, boost by trying these kitten heels, which I’ve dubbed “pumps for beginners.” I’m so in love with the neutral color-block palette, which is working with pretty much every pair of pants and skirt I own.

STEAL: H&M MIDI SKIRT
Jackie: I spent all winter in floor-skimming skirts, and I need a change, but I’m not quite ready for minis. Enter my new obsession: the midi, which happens to be this season’s It skirt style. This khaki-colored one is from H&M, which means two things: It’s really affordable and it looks the opposite of affordable, especially when paired with an ankle boot and blazer.

SPLURGE: J.CREW LACE JUMPSUIT
Brittany Talarico, Associate Style Editor: I’m getting married in October and when I saw this bridal jumpsuit at a J.Crew preview, I knew I had to have it. No, I won’t be walking down the aisle in the design (kudos to brides who are bold enough to do so!), but I will be wearing it to my shower and rehearsal dinner, which softens the blow of the hefty price tag.
