This year, what with Kanye West putting on a massive fashion show/listening party at Madison Square Garden and Rihanna providing us all with the latest in extraterrestrial footwear stylings, you may have come to believe that we have entered into the age of peak celebrity-fueled fashion lines.
And while you aren’t wrong, you aren’t exactly 100 percent right either — it’s just that none of us knew it until today when Robert Pattinson announced he is working on his own clothing collection and the holy trinity of celebrity-backed apparel finally came into fruition.
In an interview with
, the actor discusses his role as the face of Dior Homme, including the fact that, “there are some clauses in my contract that I’ve never even been asked to respect.” That includes a public appearance clause, and, apparently, a non-compete clause, because in his very next answer, Pattinson says that he’s started making his own clothes. “For the last two years, I’ve been visiting producers and craftsmen,” he says. “There’s already quite a few pieces. I love doing it. My style is influenced by the cities I go to, sourcing fabrics and local skills. In Los Angeles it’s really easy to work with denim and do workwear inspired clothes. In England I look more towards wool and knitwear. What I do is pretty multifaceted, clothes for men and for women, things that I make with friends … But I’m not going into too much detail, I don’t want to jinx anything.”

Pattinson doesn’t share many more details, quickly moving on to other topics including his upcoming 30th birthday, which, he says, is alarming in a number of ways, particularly the one that involves his reflection in the mirror. “Frankly I’m terrified!,” he says. “Today for the first time, I gave myself a close shave before the photoshoot. I did fittings yesterday — the model in the presentation image looked about 14 years old. And when I looked in the mirror, I thought, ‘But why does my ass look like that?'” Luckily, now that he’s a designer, he can make jeans to counteract that.
What do you think of Robert Pattinson starting a clothing line? What do you think it will look like? Would you wear it?
