In our weekly roundup of the looks that are gaining fashion ground (and the ones losing their style street cred), we saw lots of bright, vivid yellow dresses, pumps as icy as the polar vortex and a hemline that doesn’t seem to make the cut. Pun intended.
Up: Bright yellow. Several of our favorite leading ladies stepped out this week strutting their stuff in vibrant yellow hues that brought the sunshine in chilly week. Jessica Chastain wore an off-the-shoulder Oscar de la Renta dress to the National Board of Review Awards Gala in New York. Later in the week, Olivia Munn was spotted donning an equally bright Victoria Beckham halter for the Variety Breakthrough of the Year Awards in Las Vegas.
Up: White Pumps. White pumps were around last year too, but it looks like even a snowpocalypse won’t stop them anytime soon. Lupita Nyong’o started the week strong with Sophia Webster pumps for a 12 Years of Slave luncheon in New York. Maria Menounos opted for some white pumps at the Variety Breakthrough of the Year Awards in Las Vegas. And again, Olivia Munn is on-trend, pairing her yellow dress with brilliant white Jimmy Choos at the Variety event. We’re curious to see if the stars will be bring these out at the Emmys.
Down: High-Low Hemlines. We love Nicole Richie‘s style, but it looks like this week she was sporting a trend that’s headed out. Richie wore the cascading trend while attending the Antonio Berardi dinner in Beverly Hills. Starlets were in love with the high-low hemline last year, especially Marion Cotillard who rocked two Dior high-low gowns at the Toronto Film Festival and the SAG Awards. Though we love the sneaky peek of the legs, it looks like we are going to see some simpler seams in 2014.
