Melissa McCarthy skipped the dramatic dresses most of her fellow red carpet goers wore at the People’s Choice Awards for a very chic pair of pants!
The Spy star, 45, picked up the award for best comedic movie actress at the PCAs and hit the stage in style to accept the award.
McCarthy wore figure-flattering black sequin pants and a bell-sleeve, tunic-style blush blouse for the occasion, teamed with a hot-pink lip and glossy blowout.
“Holy smokes!” she shouted as she took the stage. “Thank you so much! I considered taking my pants off just in solidarity, but I thought better of it. I respect you enough to keep my pants on.”
She added: “Every time you buy a ticket, every time you go to see a movie, every time you support it you allow me to live out a crazy dream. I always feel like I should pinch myself because I can’t believe that I can do it.”
The mom of two had a very stylish 2015, turning it out on red carpet after red carpet while simultaneously debuting her clothing line, Melissa McCarthy Seven7.
“I’ve been every size under the rainbow, and my sense of style never left me, but my options did,” McCarthy told PEOPLE. “I created a fashion line that is for all sizes.”
“You should be able to wake up and say, ‘I am wearing weird boots and leopard pants and a ripped-up T-shirt and a leather jacket and a big bow in my hair,'” says McCarthy, adding that she makes sure to always follow her own fashion advice. “I’m a mom with two kids — and I wear leather pants and cheetah-print and all kinds of crazy stuff.”
We hope McCarthy’s bold style choices continue to surprise and inspire us in 2016. What do you think of her latest red carpet look? Sound off below.
