We’ve picked our favorite gowns from the past, predicted some fabulous punk couture for Kim Kardashian and put ourselves on Met Gala couple watch. Now all we have left to do is gear up for tonight’s big event: the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala.
Check out why we’re psyched for the party, below, then join us again at 7 p.m. for live coverage of the gowns, gossip and to see the biggest names in Hollywood go punk.

1. Kim Kardashian and Anna Wintour make nice. Rumor has had it that Kardashian has long been persona non grata at the Met Gala, despite her boyfriend‘s fashion insider status — and the person who was allegedly blacklisting her was Vogue editor and Conde Nast creative director Anna Wintour. But now that it’s been confirmed to PEOPLE that Kardashian dined at Wintour’s West Village townhouse this weekend, we are looking for lots of kissy-face photo ops on the red carpet.
2. Guyliner. Punk is a hard theme for your average guy to pull off. Let’s face it: Can you picture Ryan Reynolds in a shredded kilt, moto boots and a mohawk? So though we’re not expecting much from the male attendees, we are hoping for something a little out of the ordinary. Like kohl-rimmed eyes and a fierce attitude. Is that too much to wish for?
3. Twee Celebs Get Grungy. Quick: Picture Taylor Swift or Zooey Deschanel in punk attire. You can’t, can you? The two are known for their love of kittens, A-line skirts and blunt bangs. Which is why we can’t wait another minute to see how these sweet stars interpret the night’s theme, Punk: Chaos to Couture.
4. Stars Who Take the Theme Seriously. Of course there will be some stars who just use this an excuse to wear a pretty dress, but from what we hear, we’ll see a few risk-takers (like Gwen Stefani and Sarah Jessica Parker) who are prepared to knock the punk theme out of the park.
5. Big hair. Enough said.
