If there’s anything we learned from Lauren Conrad’s latest book, Celebrate, it’s that this woman loves a good party. “For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved celebrating, so I know my obsession started at an early age,” she wrote in her book. So, of course, the author, soft-filter Instagram expert and Kohl’s designer had a few ideas for how to make mom feel like the center of attention come Mother’s Day. (Head’s up, this holiday is quickly approaching, so if you haven’t marked your iCals for at least a phone call on May 8th, do it now.)
For Conrad, the perfect way to celebrate mom is by getting her a gift she’ll love. Yes, it’s a daunting task, but Conrad — ever the problem-solver — shared her picks exclusively with PeopleStyle.

As it turns out, everything you love — a dress, some lip balm and a few bags — are some of her top choices for mom too. “Moms always have a lot of stuff,” she says. The solution: Simplify her life with a bag from her Little Market site, which curates artisanal fair-trade goods from around the world. “Help them stay organized with a one-of-a-kind handwoven pouch from Guatemala,” she says of the red patterned pouch ($50, littlemarket.com). “Or shop for groceries in style with a handmade market basket from Ghana.” (Black and natural basket bag and natural bag, $64 each; littlemarket.com.)
As a fashion lover, she has a few picks for the style-obsessed moms, too, like this floral “Goleta” dress from her line, Paper Crown ($278; paper-crown.com). “Putting on a beautiful dress always feels good,” she says. If you want to steer clear of clothing, she suggests stackable bangles—these are rose gold-filled, handmade bracelets from Design by Gam ($21 each; etsy.com).

Or, give her something to make her feel beautiful, suggests Conrad. She likes the Paradis Basics Macaron Luxe Lip Balm ($16.50, paradisbasics.com). “This beautiful lip balm is perfect for mom to toss in her bag and go,” she says. Or, the Jo Malone Red Roses cologne ($65 for 30ml; jomalone.com). “I am obsessed with anything rose scented,” she says.
Finally, as an alternative to Mother’s Day flowers, snag something for her home would make her living space feel special, like a ceramic plant pot ($22; anthropologie.com) and add a long-living succulent. Notes Conrad in her book, “To me, celebrating is taking a moment to show those people in our lives how much we really love them.”
