As we already mentioned once this morning, Kylie Jenner is a makeup business mogul on the rise. And it’s not just us who thinks so, the whole beauty industry has also recently taken notice of the teen’s ability to sell out of lip kits faster than her factory can produce them. A pretty impressive feat in an already overly saturated market full of celebrity cosmetic wares. Clearly, Adweek concurs, sitting down recently with “the millennial generation’s hottest social star” to get to the bottom of just what makes this 18-year-old the latest phenomenon in lipstick.

And the magazine got right down to business, kicking off their interview with the question we’re all dying to know the answer to, why exactly have these lip kits gotten such a huge response? “I feel like people trust my makeup decisions.” Kylie says, “Before I had a cosmetics line, I couldn’t even buy the products that I loved because I would go into stores and they’d be, like, ‘Everything’s sold out. Everyone wants to buy the color lipstick you’re using.’ It got frustrating. So I kind of just wanted to take matters into my own hands and create my own line and show people what I actually use and what I actually love.” It also happens to be the perfect way to guarantee you’ll never run out of your favorite gloss ever again.
And despite how ubiquitous the teen appears to be on social media, the reality star claims that it’s more of a facade she puts on rather than the real her, insisting “You can’t really tell who a person is from, like, an eight-second Snapchat video or an Instagram. I only post on Instagram or Snapchat what I want people to see, you know? But there’s a whole other side to me that people don’t know.”
In fact, she told the magazine she tries to give her fans only the parts of herself she thinks they’re most interested in, saying, “I feel like people want to see me have a cool hair color and dress a certain way and have pretty makeup and heels. If they were to see me in public, they would expect me to look like that. It’s also fun for me, dressing up. That’s always been me, since day one, but it’s also exhausting for everyday life.”

Despite the relentless pressure to always look totally put together with a full face of glam in front of all her social media fans, makeup is still where Jenner’s passion lies. But as for the 18-year-old’s next move, she said, “I feel like I’m juggling a lot right now, but my main focus is my cosmetics line. There’s so much I want to do that I can’t really think about anything else. I want to take my time and work on each individual product until it’s perfect. I don’t want to rush into anything.”
But it sounds like in terms of her longterm plan, she’s hoping to slowly fade out of the spotlight and dedicate all her focus to growing her business, “and being behind the scenes. Hopefully, I have a family and I’m just running my business and my cosmetics line.” We’ve also heard rumor that she’d like to own a farm one day. You have to admit, Old MacJenner does have a certain ring to it.
