Though we’d use many words to describe Kim Kardashian‘s style, “indecisive” would never be one of them. But the bride-to-be kept us on our toes yet again at the Met Gala, leaving the house in one complete look and then exiting the limo sporting entirely different accessories. You know, as one does.
On her way out the door, Kardashian was photographed giving her draped satin Lanvin gown a tougher, sexier feel, with thick buckled leather cuffs that matched her wide buckled belt, plus slim strappy sandals. Massive Lorraine Schwartz diamond earrings completed the outfit. It was also the look that she captioned “Final Touches” on her Instagram.
By the time she arrived on the red carpet at the Met Gala, however, she had changed into a pair of Lanvin cage sandals, ditched the cuffs altogether and swapped the belt for a simpler one, though the earrings stayed in place. Her new look was much less “edgy formal” and much more “classy debutante.”
This brings up so many questions, like: What made her change her mind in the limo? And does she travel with an entire mobile styling unit? And is West the mobile stylist and if so, did he have extra shoes and a belt for her to change into in case he didn’t like the ones she was wearing? Whatever her secret is, we’ll admit, we’re envious — nothing is worse than showing up to a party and wishing you’d changed your outfit one. Last. Time.
[Edited to add: Kardashian addressed all our questions on her blog the next day! Apparently she debated the chunky belt for hours before deciding on it, but after seeing how others were dressed on the way to the event, she changed into her more ’40s-inspired look — and Kanye liked the new outfit better too. Read all about it here.]
