Last year marked Jessica Chastain’s transition from a supporting character to a full-fledged fashion star, but because life changed so quickly for the actress, she’s still a bit shocked by the perks that come with her newfound fame.
“I now have more access, which is amazing,” she recently said of her burgeoning relationships with designers. “I’ve always wanted to wear stuff like this, I’ve just never been given the access. That’s what has changed for me.”
Speaking to PEOPLE at the Vanity Fair/Juicy Couture Vanities 20th Anniversary Party at Siren Studios in L.A., the Oscar nominee admitted that there are still certain styles she shies away from. “I’m not a model, and everything looks better when you’re six feet tall and you’re gorgeous and rail thin,” she explained. “On the runway, everything looks better. I can’t do [some] outfits justice, so I will not go there.”
Lately though, Chastain has worn gowns from Vivienne Westwood, Balenciaga, Elie Saab and Giorgio Armani, to name a few. But it sems the novelty hasn’t worn off just yet. Referencing the intricate Alexander McQueen creation she was wearing at the Vanity Fair bash, she said, “It wasn’t really that tough of a thing to pick out. It was more of a shock to me that they let me wear it.”
