Jennifer Lawrence's Funky Dior Haute Couture Dress: The Style Team Debates

You didn’t think we were going to go all day without discussing Jennifer Lawrence‘s sheer Christian Dior confection did you? The truth is, editors here have been divided on the bold gown she wore to Monday’s L.A. premiere of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire — and since we couldn’t come to a consensus today, we’re taking our own personal battle to the blog for you to vote.

Associate Style Editor Brittany Talarico: Way to bring some Katniss-style guts to the red carpet, J.Law. Fresh. Sexy. Avant garde. All words I would use to describe the star’s Dior design. And when you’re Hollywood’s reigning queen, it’s important to take some bold red carpet risks. I applaud you, Jen for going there and totally owning it. Plus, even though you don’t exercise (seriously, can we talk about that!?) your body looks unreal in a strapless bodysuit. And one last thing: that belt?! Amaze.

Style News Editor Alex Apatoff: Nope. Nope. A thousand times nope. Here are some ways to describe Jennifer Lawrence: fun, vibrant, sassy and lovely. Here are some ways she should not be described: The sexiest competitor in the Miss Beekeeper 2013 pageant. The most scandalous bathing beauty in 1885. And most of all, she should not be described as wearing some reheated leftovers from early 2013. This briefs-under-a-sheer-dress look is feeling so stale right now, I could use it to make French toast, and it would be infinitely tastier than this sad confection. On the plus side: Good hair, pretty makeup, killer bod. Don’t want to leave you hanging, there, Jen.

Whose side are you on? Are you a fan of J.Law’s gown or is it a total miss? Let us know below!
