The Kardashians‘ hairstylist, Jen Atkin, just launched a new haircare line, OUAI, and celebrities including Chrissy Teigen, Reese Witherspoon, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, and of course, all of the members of the KarJenner Klan have been posting photos of the products on Instagram, showing their love.
But this isn’t the first time Hollywood’s It Girls have tried the goods — as Jen’s best friends, they’ve been using (and critiquing) the products since long before they launched, making them truly celebrity-approved. Below, find out how influential her squad was in the making of the line — and exactly how Atkin used the products to create some of our favorite red carpet looks.
“My goal is to make beautiful hair achievable, so I wanted to make sure people I knew were using my products and getting the results they wanted,” Atkin says of her line. “Before the launch, I gave samples to nearly everyone I knew looking for feedback. Then I would reformulate and start the process over again until I had something perfect. They also helped a lot with the branding as I wanted a line that was relatable and spoke to us.”
Today is the day!! Congrats to my friend @jenatkinhair on the launch of #OUAI!!! I honestly don't know anyone who works harder than you while still managing to be the most enjoyable humans on the planet. Seriously. Jen is so fun to be around that she doesn't even need to do good hair, I would pay her to just make me laugh. She could suck balls at hair and i would still request her presence at every shoot. But alas, she does not suck at hair. And she will never admit it but she is one of the best stylists on this planet. She is good at everything. Being talented, hysterical, and super deserving of ALL this success. I love you, you nut!!
But her celeb squad of testers didn’t just try the products right before they launched — they’ve been using them “since day one of me getting samples, about a year and a half [ago],” Atkin says. “They’re the best testing group because they all like nice things and are a tough crowd to please!”
Considering their involvement, we don’t take it lightly when Atkin spills that the most popular product among her friends is “definitely the OUAI Treatment Masque.”
If anyone is deserving of success it is my dear dear friend @jenatkinhair!! She is so incredibly hard-working and has such a beautiful heart! I love that I've been able to witness her journey of creating her very own hair care collection @theouai!!! The packaging is simply flawless and the quality is as good as you can get. I am officially #ouaiaddicted congratulations my little cutie!!! 💜
“It really is a five minute hair makeover,” she says. “Most of us don’t have time to sit with deep conditioning treatments in our strands for hours. It gives dramatic results after just one use and comes in easy individual use packets for on the go. I personally always bring one with me when I go to the gym!”
But the one thing everyone loves about the line: “The scent,” Atkin says. “I worked really hard crafting the perfect scent inspired by fine French fragrances with the heart of rose at the center of each. I can use the products without saying anything, and someone will always mention the smell.”

So in hopes of recreating her masterpieces, we asked Atkin exactly how use her products to get three of our favorite hairstyles from this year’s Golden Globes.
Jenna Dewan-Tatum’s Braided Chignon
On rough-dried hair, Atkin sprayed OUAI Texturizing Hair Spray all over and used a curling iron to add curl and texture to Dewan-Tatum’s strands. Then, starting at the crown, she created an inside-out French braid all the way to the bottom, secured the ends with an elastic, wrapped them under to create a chignon, pinning it in place. To create extra texture, Atkin pulled the braid apart and sprayed it with her OUAI Soft Hair Spray.
Kourtney Kardashian’s Slicked Pony
Atkin prepped Kardashian’s hair with OUAI Soft Mousse and OUAI Wave Spray before blow drying it. She then used the Kardashian Beauty Black Seed Dry Oil to slick her hair into a low pony, and curled the ponytail with a curling iron. To give the look some texture, Atkin finished it off with a spritz of the OUAI Texturizing Hair Spray.
Kylie’s Sleek Topknot
Atkin flat ironed Jenner’s hair from roots to ends before gathering it into a super-tight high ponytail, which she slicked with Gorilla Snot Gel. She then applied the the gel, along with the OUAI Hair Oil, throughout the lengths of her ponytail before twisting it into a tight topknot and securing with bobby pins. To make sure it lasted all night, Atkin finished the look with OUAI Soft Hair Spray.
