James Franco Adds Fashion Photographer to His Packed Résumé

Updated

Courtesy ELLE; Inset: Shooting Star

James Franco has long since perfected his James Dean smolder, but in the July issue of ELLE, the multi-talented star reveals his surprising prowess behind the lens. In a portfolio for the magazine, Franco depicts top model Agyness Deyn as a modern day rabble-rouser. Choosing Hollywood’s Chateau Marmont, where Rebel Without a Cause director Nichols Ray lived while filming, Franco pulled from his experience playing Dean in a 2001 TNT biopic. Capturing what he calls the “ripples and echoes” of the film on the cultural zeitgeist, Franco explores Rebel‘s underlying themes of sexuality in the androgynous spread. And while reticent to say too much, Franco describes the images as incorporating motorcycles, nudity and “extreme bondage … crazy stuff.” Check out a picture of Franco in a helicopter as well as portraits of a nearly unrecognizable Deyn, below.
