Ivy Park Pandemonium Descends on PEOPLE Newsroom: Here's What We're Buying in the Name of Bey

Updated

Thursday is payday at People HQ, and we’re putting our money to really good use this week. Beyoncé’s Ivy Park athleisure collection has landed at Topshop, and it’s the next best thing to the singer dropping a new album. Below, our guide on what to buy now, before it sells out and goes for double the price on eBay.

Sharon Clott Kanter, Deputy Style Director: I’m a huge gym junkie, so this collection is right up my alley. Honestly, I wasn’t going to get anything, but as soon as Ivy Park went online, the thrill of getting something that might sell out just totally consumed me. First, I had sports bras and capris in my cart—totally useful and wearable options. But then I thought, ‘This is Beyoncé’s line! Why be practical?!’ So I went for a crop top that I have absolutely no intention of wearing to the gym and a see-through mesh hoodie that I will wear over my Target workout wear everyday. I know the Upper East Siders at my Equinox will be totally jealous/not know the difference. #IdiditfortheInsta

Brittany Talarico, Senior Style Editor: I’m totally that girl who buys into hype. I’m not shy to admit that I purchased the Kendall + Kylie “Klub” crop top when the sisters started their eponymous clothing line last year. So Beyoncé could be selling no-show socks, and I would buy them! To get in on the action, I went for the super-Bey adjacent teal Ivy Park jersey, which I think will look just as cute with denim cutoffs as it will with black leggings. And if I was really feeling Beyoncé-level fearless, I’d lose the pants all together.

Sara Nathan, News Director: I am never one to shy away from dusting off the credit card — especially for Beyoncé. But as I was about to check out, having picked a simple black tank top that would be perfect for Soul Cycle (take THAT front row) my Beyoncé obsessed colleague Aaron requested a headband.’ Why yes, of.course’, I replied, and popped it into my basket. A schoolgirl error. In the time that had taken, my top had SOLD OUT. Damn the headband. Quickly rifling through Topshop and Net-a-Porter, I soon found a cute grey sweatshirt (yes, because I don’t have 5 already) and a pair of matching shorts. I may end up looking like I’m off to camp, we’ll see.

Aaron Parsley, Digital Operations Director: I support Beyoncé any way I can. Eight years ago that meant downloading I Am … Sasha Fierce AND buying the CD. I may have also seen her concert two days in a row. And please don’t ask my boyfriend about having to prevent a (gay) bar fight between a trash talker and me. (For the record the idiot was spilling nonsense to the tune of “She’s just not talented.”) Today my love and support of Queen B means purchasing some Ivy Park gear. I don’t do leotards and the shower shoes don’t come in a men’s 12 so I went for the headband. Which I will wear at the next Beyoncé-themed spin class I take. And to work the day B6 finally comes out on Tidal. (BTW: Don’t even talk to me if she comes out with a men’s line one day — I’ll have to work from home.)

Emily Kirkpatrick, AM Style News Editor: Trying to decide whether or not to buy this bodysuit almost gave me a panic attack. Around 7am, after quickly browsing everything Ivy Park had to offer, I quickly decided that I wanted nothing and that while this particular piece was cute, the amount of wear I would get out of it was not worth the almost $200 price tag. Jump cut to four hours later as everyone in our office was yelling about all the pieces they were loading into their shopping cart and I broke out into a hypebeast cold sweat. After struggling against my nature to impulsively buy celeb products online (hello, Kylie Lip Kit), cooler heads prevailed and the hefty aforementioned sum remains safely in my bank account. Not today, Beyoncé. Not today.
