There’s no doubt 2015 was the year of the bob. Celebs chopped inches off their signature, long hair in favor of chic, short, shoulder-skimming styles. Now some of those stars are lengthening their short strands with layered extensions. Could the bob era be ending? It’s possible judging by Kate Hudson, Kaley Cuoco and Khloé Kardashian‘s new longer looks.

Hudson, who originally chopped seven inches off her hair right before hitting the Golden Globes red carpet, has been rocking a lob since January. And since that initial chop, she’s been gradually shaving inches off her lob, entering bob territory.
Now, though, the actress is officially back in the long hair club with a mid-length style lengthened with a few inches of extensions. She showed off the long look earlier this week on Jimmy Kimmel Live, but officially debuted the layered look on the red carpet during the Mamarazzi screening of her new film, Mother’s Day, in N.Y.C. Thursday.
Woods also gave the actress a fresh color update, adding blonder highlights to the longer, layered style, because, after all, Cuoco is “back:” “It’s very important for me to change my look after wrapping each season🙂,” she wrote on Instagram. “I love playing Penny, but it’s good for me to bring it back to Kaley 🙋🏼 last year I chopped it all of — this year I’m doing the opposite. With the extension master @faye.woods … Stay tuned!”

And lastly, Kardashian, who’s constantly going back and forth between her “fashion lob” and long hair, seems to be back to her mane roots — long, layered and light. The youngest Kardashian sister, 31, is now sporting a style that falls past her chest, thanks to several inches of extensions.
But knowing how indecisive the TV personality is about her strands, there’s no doubt she’ll change it up again. In fact, we’re already awaiting for her next mane change because we know it’s coming.
So does the recent spike in extensions mean the bob and its sister cut, the lob, are no longer the “It” haircuts among Hollywood’s elite? Possibly, at least it seems so for the above roster of short-to-long-haired stars, along with Coachella babe Vanessa Hudgens and brand-new redhead Emma Roberts.
