How Much Will the Dyson Hair Dryer Cost? Start Saving Now

Updated

If a Dyson vaccuum has been the reigning item on your wish list for as long as you can remember, we’re here to bring you some good news and some bad news: The good news is that they’re about to one-up themselves with a brand new must-have product. The not-so-good news? You have until September, so start saving

The brand just announced that they’re entering a brand new category: Beauty. Yes, you read that correctly. Dyson, the vaccuum and household fan powerhouse, will be releasing an equally powerful (not to mention equally awesome-looking) blow dryer this fall: The Dyson Supersonic hair dryer. We know what you’re thinking, how could a vacuum company create a beauty tool worth using?

Let us break it down for you: Over the past four years and with 71 million dollars spent, Dyson not only put 103 engineers to work, they also built a brand new laboratory dedicated to studying the science of hair, in which they studied over 1,010 miles of human hair and developed 600 prototypes in order to get it right.

Not convinced yet? Jen Atkin, who you might know as the Kardashian’s BFF hairstylist, is also on board.

“If you know anything about me, you know I’m a lover of innovation and new technology, and the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer is just that,” she said in a statement. “The motor is much smaller, but still very powerful, so I can dry hair quickly and it feels light in my hand. Plus the aesthetic is so gorgeous.”

Like their other coveted tools, this one will cost you a pretty penny. No, it’s not the most expensive hair dryer to hit the market (that would be Sedu’s $700 tool that launched back in 2011), but at $399, it’s not your average dryer. So is it worth the investment? If you’re a blowout addict, we think yes. If there’s one thing the brand has mastered, it’s managing air. Which is why this dryer will be unique in using Dyson’s patented Air Multiplier technology to amplify the amount and pressure of the air hitting your strands, making your drying time shorter and your blowouts smoother. But that’s not the only perk — with the motor small enough (yet still extremely powerful) to live in the handle, it’ll be lighter and quieter than the dryers that you’re used to. Plus, once you set your desired temperature, a tiny thermometer will work to keep the heat exactly where you want it, so you can say goodbye to heat damage for good.

It’s safe to say that we’ll be getting our hands on it as soon as we can.
