We’ve come to expect over-the-top ensembles (Iron Maiden, anyone?) from Heidi Klum at her annual costume party. But this year she outdid herself, though it was less about the actual costume and more about what she wore on her face: hundreds of Swarovski crystals coating her complexion.
“It took maybe three hours to put my face on and like 10 minutes to get dressed,” Klum told PEOPLE of the Cleopatra costume she wore to her Haunted Holiday Party at Finale on Saturday night in New York City. “The guy that designed the face made little pieces and put them on, and in between he had to fill in the gaps, so it took a very long time.”
(Klum’s annual costume party usually falls on Halloween, but was postponed this year due to superstorm Sandy.)
Along with a bejeweled face, Klum channeled the pharaoh in a crystal-covered headpiece, a cleavage-baring gold gown, a feathered cape and platform shoes — a glam look that’s quite the 180 from last year’s dead body costume. “I thought I was ugly last year, which I love, but I always like to change it up … I wanted something pretty and sparkly,” she explained. “Every year I try to go a little bit more wild or out the box.” Mission accomplished, Klum.
During her visit to N.Y.C., Klum also went to Long Island with AOL, Patch and the American Red Cross to give out donations and supplies to those affected by Sandy, and money raised at her bash was given to the cause, as well. Tell us: What do you think of Klum’s costume?
