The Met Gala is almost here, and we’re dying to know what the ball’s biggest stars — Rihanna, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Kardashian — will be wearing to the star-studded, tech-themed event. Luckily, some celebs are using social media to make the wait a little easier. Below, a look at the BTS, getting-ready photos they’ve shared so far.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are about to make their fourth glamorous appearance on the Met red carpet. And while we don’t yet know what Kim’s look will entail, we have an idea that it’ll include the sparkly heels that Kanye’s holding in her Snapchat sneak peek photo above. We also know that Olivier Rousteing is one of the people fitting her dress in the photo, thanks to the tags on her “Midnight Met Prep” Instagram. It’s no surprise that Kim turned to her close friend and the Creative Director of Balmain to design her look. According to Kanye, Kim was the one who inspired the latest Balmain collection. She’s also indefatiguable: Despite a late night of spray-tanning, she carried on admirably:
Kim wasn’t the only star getting fitted late Sunday night. Mindy Kaling gave a glimpse at her iridescent white Tory Burch dress and red manicure during her “10pm fitting.” The brand already revealed that Kaling’s gown is hand-pleated, featuring a mint-green slip to play up the floral pattern. The actress will also carry a custom clutch with color-changing Swarovski crystals to match her dress. And she’s so excited, she even shared a sketch of the strapless design.
Freida Pinto is also on team Tory Burch, as evidenced by her latest photo:
Met Gala prep for some stars is “eating only celery” (check back tomorrow to see who gave us that clue!). For Amy Schumer, it’s enjoying a giant cookie with your baseball hat turned sideways. We’re hoping she doesn’t change for the carpet.
Karlie Kloss is giving multiple hairstyles a try before her big Met Gala debut. Want to see the final version? You can wait until tonight’s big carpet … or download the Vogue app here.
Hailey Baldwin shows the joys of shoe selection — as well as being the guest of a very thoughtful designer — in her hotel-room
Olivia Culpo shared a photo on Snapchat revealing what we can only hope is her dress to host E!’s Live From the Red Carpet — a boxy top paired with a totally sheer polka-dot skirt and black briefs. And if that’s not enough to capture your attention, she’s surrounded by a sea of shoes bound to make all your sartorial dreams come true. Plus, her hairstylist revealed her pre-gala hair “snip!”
Allison Williams is preparing to to match the theme of the evening in the best way: with her mani! She gave fans a peek at her nail art, a silver shade complete with mini gear decals and other metallic details, done by nail artist Pattie Yankee. With nails so elaborate, we’re anticipating a dress just as intricate.

And would it be a true Met Gala without a hair color update? Model Doutzen Kroes gave us a look at her balayage highlights in the works, just in time for the big day.
Lena Dunham appears to be hinting at her designer, sharing a casual snap of Jenna Lyons (who is cool enough that she could wear this exact look at the Met Gala and fit right in).
The one dress we are sure will match the theme is the one designed by Marchesa — which we got a sneak preview of on Sunday. With over 150 LED lights, the colors will change to react to #MetGala tweets throughout the night. Amazing, we know.
