Her TV character Quinn Perkins wears a lot of black, is work-obsessed and we still don’t know if she’s a good gladiator or a bad gladiator. But off screen Scandal star Katie Lowes loves to wear color and is a total homebody. And now that we’ve seen inside her abode — she covers the October issue of Lonny magazine and we have a look at the photos below — we don’t blame her for hanging around the Beachwood Canyon, L.A. oasis when she’s not on set with Kerry Washington and the rest of Pope & Associates.
That actress, who refers to house magazines as “my porn,” was involved in every aspect of designing her home with husband, actor Adam Shapiro. The vibe? “Homey rustic meets industrial,” according to Lowes.
“You know when you date someone and mix your things, and then you realize that neither of you has anything except hand-me-downs? That’s all well and good until you move into a house that’s beautiful and costs all of your savings,” she shares. “Then you’re like, Oh, this stuff doesn’t translate here.”
The star says she’s very grateful to be a homeowner and feels incredibly lucky to walk outside on to her balcony and see panoramic view of downtown L.A.
“It’s really weird for two actors to buy a house, because it feels like you’re going to get kicked out at any moment,” she says. “We’ve been struggling artists for so long — and look, that could still happen at any time, so every day I’m grateful — but it was a huge milestone in our lives.”
Lowes also opened up about her style (pictured above in a glam plunging Peter Pilotto design) saying, “I like to get dressed up, but I also like to sit around in my pajamas and do pizza taste tests.” (We definitely subscribe to a similar philosophy.)
One of those places where she likes to sit around in her PJs? The bedroom (pictured below) which she calls a “hotel meets spa” room. (Anyone else feeling those hot-pink accents?)
