Tom Ford has conquered the worlds of fashion and film — and now he has his sights set on combatting bullying in schools.

Alongside fellow filmmaker Brett Ratner, the designer-turned-director has teamed up with the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network (GLSEN) and the Ad Council to invite aspiring filmmakers to submit a public service advertisement for GLSEN’s award-winning “Think Before You Speak” campaign.

The campaign, which launched in 2008, educates teens about the consequences of anti-LGBT language and has featured ads starring Hilary Duff and comedian Wanda Sykes.

“I am delighted to be working with GLSEN on this important and timely campaign to emphasize how powerful words can be and how crucial it is to think before you speak,” Ford says in an exclusive statement to PEOPLE. “I am excited to see the submissions from aspiring filmmakers around the world and look forward to picking the most compelling ones. This campaign creates a tremendous opportunity to help us all raise awareness of this issue.”

The winner of the PSA competition, which closes on May 2, will be flown to Los Angeles to attend GLSEN’s annual Respect Awards, where the winning PSA will be screened and honored with an award from the filmmakers. Learn more about the contest below, and submit your entry here.
