The supermodel is back to her skin-baring ways in her latest ads for the shoe brand’s spring campaign — and we have an exclusive first look. Plus, we chatted with the shoe designer about those sexy ankle-strap shoes that she (along with every fashionista in Hollywood!) is wearing.
Shot by famed photographer Mario Testino, the black-and-white ad features Moss in a black unitard, laying across a white chaise with her feet in the air to showcase her sexy co-star, Weitzman’s “Nudist” sandal. (Hm, wonder if that name inspired the concept for the ad?)
“We took six pictures, and he only had to redo one,” Weitzman tells PEOPLE. “That is how well they work together. Usually, there is a day and a half re-photographing, but right off the bat, five of six were perfect.”
He also shares that Moss was a natural fit for the new campaign, thanks to their successful collaboration in the past and — despite the fact that she’s not wearing much — her versatility in clothes. “She can be seen in Mango, and she can be seen in Yves Saint Laurent. She can be seen in Topshop. She’s on the cover of Playboy and the cover of Vogue. She can work in any media or any market. She’s a chameleon. I like that better than having someone who is always showing off the clothing and accessories of the top end brands of the world. Kate’s in all these worlds.”
“It’s a younger-market shoe. My wife said at first, ‘Who’s going to wear that shoe?’ and my daughter said, ‘I want a pair of those, but can you make them a half inch higher for me?'” Weitzman says, laughing. “And we get e-mails that say, ‘When can I have the Jennifer Lawrence shoe?'”
Weitzman adds that the style is designed to be dressed up. “This shoe, you can’t put it on with a dowdy outfit. It’s for events and a dress. But there is nothing cooler than a gorgeous girl in tight jeans wearing a sandal like that.”
And coming up with the sassy name didn’t take too much thought. “There’s not very much shoe there. It’s about as naked as a shoe can be and still have the sole and heel hang on,” he said. “We didn’t have to be too drunk to come up with that one. That name rolled off the tongues.”
Because of the high demand, Weitzman and his team are developing the shoe in even more colors. Right now you can buy a pair in black or tan (for $395) here. Having your own Kate Moss moment in them is optional.
