Portlandia star Fred Armisen showed up at the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards red carpet looking like a hybrid of Michael Jackson and Freddie Krueger. His key outfit accessory? A Krueger glove on his left hand.
Naturally, this begs a few questions: Is it his way of showing up his ex-wife, Elisabeth Moss, nominated tonight? Probably not. Is it a tribute to the late horror director Wes Craven, who died at the end of August? More likely. Is just an extended prank to promote his new show, Documentary Now!? Most likely.
In August, Armisen, who also serves as the bandleader on Late Night with Seth Meyers, appeared on Late Night to “discuss” his new charity, which sends Freddie Krueger gloves to kids in need around the globe.
Armisen wasn’t the only guy to sport a polarizing look on the carpet. Actor Alan Cumming skipped the formal wingtips for a pair of comfy black Crocs! But don’t worry — he dressed things up with a gray Vivienne Westwood suit and printed tie.
What do you think of Armisen’s ghoulish glove? How about Crocs on the carpet? Sound off below!
