Christina Aguilera Puts a Sexy Twist on Athleisure in Rare Public Outing for The Voice

Updated

Christina Aguilera doesn’t make quite as many public appearances as she used to, and why should she? After all, the woman is a nineties and noughties pop superstar whose dip-dye hair, lace-up crop tops, leather chaps, and lower abdominal crystal tattoos we’re all still unpacking (and reliving) to this very day. But the singer proved her style has evolved substantially since then, stepping out on Thursday night in a retro-inspired look that all the athleisure fanatics will be tripping over themselves to imitate.

The “Genie in a Bottle” singer kept things low-key at The Voice Karaoke For Charity event at HYDE Sunset in West Hollywood where we’re sure she put all of the other participants to shame with her powerhouse 4-octave voice. Christina gave her sporty look a sophisticated twist, pairing her easy white tank, black satin bomber, gold choker, and gold hoop earrings with mesh pumps and a high rise black pencil skirt.

While the pop star’s ensemble nailed every modern trend, her hairstyle was pure 1940s glamour (an aesthetic she often sports as a judge on The Voice), channeling Rosie the Riveter with a red bandana tied up around the back. Perhaps, Christina heard they were doling out spots to women on our new currency and this is her way of reminding us she’s as much of a national treasure as anyone else.
