2 Easy (and Mess-Free) Ways to Try the Glitter Hair Trend

Updated

When British brand Ashish sent its Spring 2016 models down the runway with rainbow confetti sprinkled in their hair, onlookers were dazzled by their magical dos. The eye-popping trend has since caught on with celebrities: Kendall Jenner was just spotted at Coachella with ’90s-inspired pigtail buns paired with lightly dusted glitter roots.

According to Hollywood beauty expert and Nine Zero One salon co-owner Riawna Capri, whose clients include Blake Lively, Jennifer Lawrence and Miley Cyrus, sparkly strands can easily be pulled off IRL, but how much you apply depends on the occasion.

“Adding glitter to your hair for a wedding should be very minimal on a high bun or braids,” she tells PEOPLE. “Festivals can be more heavy-handed, and using many different colors is appropriate.”
