We all think our pups are pretty darn cute, so why shouldn’t their pictures be everywhere? That’s the thinking behind A Dog’s Life, a treats company that changes its labels monthly to feature the most adorable dogs from around the country.
Founded by Todd Thedinga, a former Disney exec from a dog-obsessed family, A Dog’s Life started as a stand at the L.A. organic farmers market. Over time, Thedinga realized that he needed distinctive packaging to separate his Real Dogs brand biscuits and treats from the pack, so he launched a website and started the company’s “People’s Choice Awards.” Users can upload photos of their pets, then vote on their favorites. Each month the winner, plus about 12 randomly selected cuties, gets his or her face (plus name and hometown) on the snack bags.
And if you just want to see your dog’s schnoz front-and-center on the treats – in flavors like bacon and cheddar, apple pie and steak frites – you can order customized labels for an additional $4 (regularly $8.97 per bag). There’s a treat for people too: The company’s now selling personalized bottles of Real Dogs and Real Cats wine from Santa Barbara County (about $12.50 each).
Why the blending of treats with, well, alcohol? “We wanted to come up with a place where people could order products for themselves and their pets at the same time,” he tells PEOPLEPets.com. “That way, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.” Cheers to that!
