The Daily Treat: Ohio Woman Rescues Cat Found Frozen to the Road

Posted on

Things are not always as they appear, and luckily for one kitten, a passerby stopped to take a second look.

Dara Taylor of Elyria, Ohio, was driving to work on Monday when she found a gray kitten frozen to the road in northeast Ohio and rescued it. She says she initially thought it was a chunk of ice and was shocked when it tried to move.

“As I got out of the car, I could hear him meowing so loudly and pitifully and his little heart was beating so fast, she tells The Chronicle-Telegram.

Taylor says the cat was covered in ice, as though it had been in water, and it couldn’t open its eyes. After rescuing the feline, she brought it to the Friendship Animal Protective League.

The group’s chief financial officer, Shelley MacDonald, says the cat has warmed up and is being treated for a respiratory infection, with officials hopeful he will fully recover. Having been named Frosty, the organization says it is already getting adoption requests for the kitten. Those interested in bringing Frosty home can contact the Friendship APL at (440) 322-4321.
