Home. Some pets never have one to call their own. We’d like to help change that by introducing you to an extraordinary adoptable pet every week. Today, meet Waldo, a sweet pooch who’s been waiting for his forever home for more than three years.
Although he’s lived most of his life at the League for Animal Protection in Huntington, N.Y., Waldo is not bitter. He’s a loving, goofy pit bull who adores being with people, riding in cars and also walks great on a leash.
“Waldo is friendly, funny, engaging, inquisitive, intuitive, sensitive, and just so deserving of his own family and home,” says Donna Monte, one of the dog’s caretakers. “He’s quite the charmer and he’s a gorgeous red color. His photos don’t do him justice.”
So why hasn’t Waldo made the right connection yet? Because sometimes he can get a little overexcited and mouthy around other pets and children under 12, so he needs to be the only pet in a household. Though he hasn’t had much luck so far, the shelter remains certain that Waldo’s perfect match is out there.
“It’s hard not to fall in love with Waldo and he’s certainly embedded himself into my heart and the heart of all the volunteers who take care of him,” says spokeswoman Jodi Record. “He’ll make you laugh with his silly antics and beam with pride when he learns a new trick. He’ll make a wonderful companion for the lucky family that is willing to take a chance on him.”
